You may have spyware on your computer right now.

Is your computer running slower than usual lately?  Does your internet connection seem to work sometimes and not other times?  Does your computer seem to have a mind of it's own at times?  If so, then you may have spyware on your computer right now. 

Don't be alarmed.  It can be fixed.  The term "spyware" sounds a lot more insidious than it really is.  In most cases, the goal of the spyware is not to capture your passwords or credit card numbers or steal your banking information.  The main goal is to serve advertising to you forcefully with the hope of a purchase in your future so that the spyware author can make money.  Regardless of the motives, we think that your privacy is important and that spyware is nasty.

The unfortunate side effect is that their software runs on your computer and slows it down.  If you happen to have more than one piece of spyware software on your computer, then the effect can be to slow down your computer so much that it becomes unusable by you.
